Joy Connell
Bio
I am a full time artist working from my home studio in south Brisbane. I recently retired from a long nursing career in order to pursue my love of painting. As a nature lover, my genre includes animal and human portraits, flowers, landscapes and abstracts inspired from Eucalyptus trees. My style is contemporary realism.
As a nature-lover, my paintings are a starting point for a conversation with the viewer about the natural world, and those that inhabit it. I focus on realistic portrayals of landscapes, animals and people, moving into nature-inspired soothing abstracts based on Australian flora. By blending colours, fine details and expressive techniques, each of my paintings portrays the inner emotions and personalities of my subjects and give depth to my work.
The Animal Organisations I follow are The Orangutan Project & SEQ K9 Rescue Inc
