BumbleBee Conservation Trust

It is widely believed that bees evolved about 130 million years ago.
They descend from carnivorous wasps who, over time, changed their diets. Instead of collecting other insects to feed their young, they collected pollen, and so this led to the evolution of what we now know as bees. Bumblebees came much later, about 25-40 million years ago. They are herbivorous and feed on only pollen and nectar.
